Knife Care

F Dick Knives are perfectly suitable for the dishwasher, but all the same the dishwasher is considerably more aggressive in its actions than is cleaning by hand. Highly concentrated cleaning agents, long periods in which the knives are left in hot steam, and even the residue of certain kinds of food can lead to spots or corrosive actions of the blade. We would therefore recommend to clean the knives by hand, using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning agent. After cleaning the knife should be carefully wiped dry, so as to avoid spotting of the blade.

For the storage of your knives, we recommend a suitable knife block, a magnetic strip or any other place where the blades will not rub up against one another. Storing the knives in a drawer is not the ideal solution. At least the blades should lie in such a way that they are separated from one another, e.g. by using F Dick's blade cover called "knife guard".

Press Release

F DICK Knife Series 1905

1905 was an eventful year: Albert Einstein published his quantum and relativity theory. In the same year Robert Koch was awarded the Nobel prize for discovering the medicine for treatment of tuberculosis. Seen as a miracle of technology was the largest German passenger ship "Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria" and this was duly celebrated. Celebrations also took place in Norway, namely the independence from Sweden. In Russia "Petersburg Bloody Sunday: and the mutiny on the armoured cruiser "Potemkin" heralded the Russian revolution, which left its sustainable mark on the world. Theodor Roosevelt was elected President of the United States for the second time, and in Amiens, France, the French visionary and important author of the 19th Century, Jules Verne, died.

In this year of upheaval and technical progress the Swabian knife manufacturer Friedr Dick developed a series of knives with aesthetic metal rings around the handle. These replaced the previously common rivets which were used to mount the handle onto the steel of the knife. Friedr Dick was founded in Esslingen in 1778 and after more than 225 years is still a family-owned enterprise. Maximum quality and optimum handling, designed according to the ergonomic requirements for the professionals, make Dick products the leading brand for professional chefs worldwide.

The special design of 1905 and the therefore necessary special techniques have been further developed by Friedr Dick. Both then and now the knife series 1905 is captivating thanks to its exceptional appearance. Modern materials and manufacturing processes are used today. The symmetrical steel rings are inseparably connected to the molded handle, using a unique technology. The blade has a slim ground design, and the knife is perfectly balanced and tapers to the tip. It goes without saying that the blade is made of one of the best quality German steels: The last finishing step as always has been precision work by hand. The knives feature a half bolster in order to use the end of the blade and to regrind them easily. Nevertheless, the guiding hand is still safely protected against injuries on the cutting edge. In recognition of the quality which was produced on 1905, Friedr Dick has selected the original marking with the brand "F Dick". This traditional quality mark is stamped by hand. The new series combines traditional design and modern technology. Moreover, the exceptional appearance complies with the current high standards of hygiene.
